the candy band can

i had heard about a band years ago called the candy band. they are a group of mom's from the royal oak area that formed a kids "punk band" and played shows around the area. they even played at lollapalooza several years ago. i had always wanted to take the boys to one of their shows, but they never were really super close to us whenever i thought to check their schedule.
so at the beginning of the month, i went to look at what bands were playing at the plymouth music in the park, and found that the candy band was playing on the 29th. i put it on the calendar and decided that's what we would be doing today.
i brought it up to heather wood and she was interested in going as well. so we packed a lunch and some blankets (and some umbrella's as it was raining earlier in the morning) and we headed to kellogg park to rock out.
well we were there i ran into a few people that i knew...one of which was nancy and isaac gregg. i didn't say anything to talan as he was eating lunch. but when the band started playing, all of the kids went up front and started dancing. all of a sudden, talan and isaac's paths crossed and the look on their faces was priceless. they were so happy to see each other.
the whole time that the band was setting up, talan sat and ate his lunch on the blanket just staring at the stage. only a rock show can make that kid sit. but once they started playing and all the kids jumped up to dance, he did too. he eventually found a raised plastic cover that was covering the cords and decided that was his stage. so he pretty much camped out there for most of the set and showed everyone his rock moves.
hayden had a fun time in the beginning and then started his typical whining and wanting food or whatever else. he's just not that into the whole rock scene like talan is. he eventually calmed down a bit and had some more fun before we had to head home. he was really excited that they played "scooby doo, sponge bob squarepants and batman" though.
we all had a great time and were so happy the rain stopped before the show. we hope to see the candy band again sometime soon.

Nice job! Your pics turned out better than mine...you had a better spot. I'm so glad our boys found eachother...they had a blast! I still wish we had caught the first moment of realization on their faces...awesome!
