bloggers ate my babies: a trip to muskegon

fireflight played at the unity festival in muskegon on friday and jessica, mom, the boys and i all took a trip to see them play. jenn, don and rainah also drove over and were able to meet us there.
the trip went well, but hayden never did fall asleep on the car ride there and talan only slept for about 20 minutes.
we've been having some trouble with hayden lately...even more trouble than normal. so his listening skills were more or less not there while we were at the festival. so that presented some trying times for me.
talan did well, especially since we didn't leave until about 11:30 and he didn't sleep until we got into the car. the kid is NONSTOP, however. i don't know if it's a boy thing or that i just got two kids that never sit still. he refused to sit in the stroller the whole day and when you would let him down he'd just run away. just like hayden did and still does. i'd watch rainah in jealousy how she'd actually sit on the blanket or if she did walk around, she still stuck around jenn.
the boys were both so excited to see fireflight play and it was the one time during the entire day that they stood still. jenn got in trouble for the camera she was using and the guy almost took it away. apparently he didn't believe that she was with the band. justin told us after the fact that we should have said something to him WHILE HE WAS ON STAGE and he would have talked to the guy.
unfortunately, i had a rough time getting pictures. taking pictures a show in the dark with all the lights drives my camera crazy and it barely focuses most of the time. so i'm sure jenn's would have been much better!
the festival was pretty cool as they had all sorts of inflatable jumping things that the kids could go int (for free!) and tons of games they could play and win prizes. talan LOVED the moonwalk as much as hayden and rainah did. he actually was even jumping at times (when he could actually stand up and stay standing up!)
talan has always loved justin, but his love seems to have grown. every time he saw him he wanted justin to pick him up. and at one point, when justin handed him back over to me, talan started crying. and at the end of the nite when he would lay his head on my shoulder for a half a second and then decide against it, he finally laid down on justin's and started to fall asleep. nice.
after fireflight played we headed over to the main stage to watch toby mac play. during his set justin had sent jessica a text saying that toby wanted fireflight to come backstage, so jess headed over and watched the rest of his set on stage with the band. when it was over toby talked to the band and told them how he had wanted to catch their set but couldn't since they played right before him. pretty cool for the band.
we're excited that justin will be back here on the 19th and will stay here (minus 1 day) until the wedding which is in only 18 more days!
we made it home in just over 2 hours (i was driving) and after dropping mom and jessica off we headed for home. we were just about there when i did a double take as i thought "that minivan's drivers door looks open." and it was. a minivan came slowly across 8 mile and grand river, rolled up on the curb right in front of me hitting a sign. the light turned green and i started heading for home while i called 911. when i was just about home i started thinking i should turn back and see if everything was ok. i was a little nervous since it was 2:15am and i was alone with the boys. i circled around and saw no movement. i circled one more time and someone was by the van and then someone else was stopping.
i got out and was told someone at dunkin donuts saw someone jump from the van and it continued down 8 mile where i saw it crash. the 2nd time i had circled i saw a female stumbling along and i guess that must have been who was in the van.
the cops showed up and talked to us for a bit and then we were finally able to head home. so much for the good time i made! but it was an interesting story.
