severed unicorn head birthday party starring TeamScience

dave has been playing drums in a band called TeamScience with our friends jacob, neal and matt, jesse and john. as with anything jacob and neal are involved in, there are plenty of theatrics and good times.
sunday evening was their first show with the episode title "the french pregnancy" which took us on a musical journey from conception to birth. so i packed the boys up and we all headed to the dreamland theater in ypsilanti for what was supposed to be an early show.
we were told the show was starting at 6pm and they were hoping to play first so we could get out of there. when we got there we were told the first band wasn't playing until 8pm and TeamScience would be playing last, around 10:30pm.
what i was fearing could be a major disaster since taking the boys, turned into an even greater fear. however, they both did surprisingly well.
the place was set up with pieces from a local artist that does the "severed unicorn head" as it was the severed unicorn head's birthday party.
apparently, unicorns shed their heads and quickly grow a new one. if they are bitten by some kind of dog spider before growing their new head, they will turn red and evil. unicorns apparently also poop strawberries.
we learned all of this through the artwork, as well as through a scientific video that was done with the artists young daughter helping to explain how it all works. hayden loved the video. as well as the creepy teddy ruxpin unicorn that sang a warped version of happy birthday. and the talking deer/unicorn head on the wall.
i normally hate local bands, but was so glad we were able to hear the 2nd band, manhole, as i thought they were great. almost as great as talan thought they were. he danced through almost their entire set.
by the time TeamScience came on both boys were quickly going down hill. and here i was, with the two of them, trying to man the video camera and the still camera. a few snacks later, the boys settled down with hayden eventually FALLING ASLEEP, right when jacob started SCREAMING. and he slept through the rest of the show, through them cleaning and loading the cars up, up until we physically picked him up to take him to the car. apparently he gets his ability to fall asleep anywhere anytime from his father. it certainly isn't from me.
both boys crashed in the car and had no problems falling right back to sleep once we put them in their beds.
just another evening of us showing off our responsible parenting skills.

since we had so much time before the show, we all headed to abe's coney island for some dinner:
